雏凤山森林景区距元坝城区4.8公里。雏凤山，因中国历史上唯一的女皇帝武则天幼年时期曾在此山游玩，嬉戏游玩而得名。山脚下有一条长约3公里的西凤峡。因武则天幼年时曾在此游泳而得名。景区面积1.5平方公里，这里山体连绵，森林茂密，环境优美，冬无严寒，夏无酷暑。有马尾松、火炬松、红叶树等植物100多种；有国家二级保护的红腹锦鸡、黄麂等动物30多种；有兰花、杜鹃、十里香等花卉20多种；有天麻、菌灵芝、首乌等中药材100余种；有核桃、板栗等土特产品多种；有以奇、特、险著称的蜘蛛垭为代表的20多个风景点。既有茂密的原始森林，又有幽深的峡谷，山水一体，自然风光旖丽，可建设成为集旅游、休闲、避暑、疗养为一体的休闲度假中心。
五、建设内容和投资规模
第一期开放2000亩景区，修建一所星级涉外宾馆，集住宿、餐饮、娱乐为一体，还可以建设一个境外人士活动中心，即可开始营运，投资3000万元；第二期全面开发景区，建成综合性休闲度假中心，投资5000万元。总投资8000万元。

该森林景区建成后，既可休闲、度假、避暑、疗养，又可承担各种会议服务，年营业额可达1亿元，经济效益良好。
